I loves wolves and canines. In fact, they’re the easiest animals for me to draw because I have lived with them for so long. I know how they sit, how they move, and how they live. My beloved dog, Sadie is part Coastal wolf, something we did not figure out until we watched her chase prey in complete silence and instinct. She is gentle, kind, and loving - just not if you are a deer or a racoon trying to get into the compost.

Vancouver Island’s Coastal wolves are biologically distinct from their mainland cousins, and a precious and stunning predator. These animals are so close to my heart. This painting is a celebration of the connection between the wolves and their environment. The colours, the rocks, the sea creatures, and the sky all blend with the wolf to create one ecosystem with every part supporting and reinforcing one another.
